Our final gig of 2023 features two legends of the British jazz scene. Alan Barnes is one of Britain’s most distinguished and versatile saxophonists. He has enjoyed a prolific career playing and recording for many bands including the BBC Big Band and Radio Orchestra, and has toured and recorded with, among others, Freddie Hubbard, Stan Tracey, Mike Westbrook and John Dankworth.

Art Themen is a fantastically exciting, playful and inventive saxophonist. He has been a beloved character of the British jazz scene for 60 years, famously combining his role as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with saxophone duties in the bands of Alexis Korner and Stan Tracey among many others.
