Brigitte Beraha
featuring Dave Smith
Brigitte is recognized as one of the most versatile and exciting vocalists on the UK jazz scene. As well as performing and recording with many jazz legends, including Kenny Wheeler, Chris Laurence, Paul Clarvis, Stuart Hall, Martin France, John Parricelli, Bobby Wellins and Henry Lowther she is closely involved in the work of the new generation of jazz musicians. Drawing comparisons with such luminaries as Norma Winstone, Flora Purim and Tania Maria, she has forged her own, very individual voice.
This concert will feature music from Brigitte and Frank’s album The Way Home, described by Norma Winstone as “A truly beautiful recording”. They will also perform songs written in memory of Oxford based poet David Attwooll, inspired by his work, and commissioned by Oxford Contemporary Music.
“Her silky voice immediately created a sense of tranquility and solitude that hung in the air, and left the audience in awe.”
